A Bit About Me
Dedicated to Wellbeing
Dipti Bendigeri, PhD; RYT; Yoga Therapist
I consider myself extremely fortunate that I began learning yoga at a very young age in an esteemed gymnasium ‘Shree Samarth Vyayam Mandir’ (Mumbai, India). I am ever so grateful for having that opportunity to learn and immerse my childhood in such a rich environment with wonderful teachers who had devoted their lives for it. Since then it has been an integral part of my daily life. My personal practice (Pranayama, Asana and Meditation) has helped me grow stronger -- it has been transformative both on and off the mat and it inspires me to live each moment more mindfully.
I have always wanted to share my practice and deepen my knowledge through continued education. My friends and others who started practicing yoga with me thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated my skills; I was inspired by it and that’s where my teaching journey began. I completed 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher Training (Hatha Yoga) at Blue Heron Wellness (Silver Spring, MD) with Claudia Neuman. I am grateful to have learned from different teachers along my path who had rich backgrounds in different styles of Hatha yoga (teachings of Shri. Iyengar, Shri. Krishnmacharya, and Parayoga). It has been a strong influence on my practice and teaching.
I mainly teach alignment focused vinyasa style Hatha yoga. I continue to practice, study and teach Restorative and Yin Yoga. I also specialize in Functional Yoga Anatomy. Building on my strong science background and through continued education, I am completing advanced training to become Yoga Therapeutic Specialist.
I have a PhD in Biochemistry. I have worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology research (Rockville, MD) and then started working as a freelance medical/science writer. I used to be a national-level Gymnast and still love to dabble in acrobatics with my 8-year-old; he inspires me to keep moving in new ways. I love different art forms and whenever I have free time, I paint, enjoy music and love to choreograph and do dance performances (Indian folk and Bollywood dance forms).
